Get Rid of That Timeshare!

The market for selling timeshares has been better, from a down economy to the general downturn in the use of timeshares the market has changed over the years. Some new regulation protected the consumer in a more effective way, however it was not enough to make the average consumer less suspicious of timeshare offers. If you are trying to resell your timeshare, then you will see how difficult it can get due to the numerous scams involving timeshares.

After some years, some consumers get the impression that have enrolled in a vacation club, and that they cannot get out of this vacation club. If you get this feeling, it is time that you seriously think about getting rid of it. Many people seem really happy with their timeshare. However, not every buyer of a timeshare is equally happy. Spending year after year vacation at a place where you don't fit can be more of a source of stress than real vacations.

There are several ways of getting rid of a timeshare. You should be wary about resellers asking for upfront fees to list your timeshare, since they can't and won't promise you that a deal will take place. If you go through an agency, then try a serious agency, that will only ask for a commission in case they are really able to resell your property. Most upfront fees are ridiculously high and since you can't expect a profit upon this deal, it is better to go through other venues.

Selling through classified ads and asking friends is perhaps the better way of yielding a descent price for a timeshare. As said above, timeshares have a problem of credibility that draws the price down. Trying to sell to people that know you will solve this issue.

A venue that most owners don't know, is the simple cancellation of the contract. Getting rid doesn't mean selling it. Contracts often have clauses that allow a cancellation. Sometimes the cancellation period is as short as two weeks and sometimes it goes up to three months. If you want to get rid of it, first check your contract, since some timeshares can be simply canceled. Of course, in this case, you won't have to pay anymore, but you won't get a refund for paid shares. In some states, sellers have an obligation to offer this options to all their customers.

There are lots of different systems and companies to set a timeshare. They all depend on the jurisdiction of your timeshare and the internal policy of the company that is offering it.
